Blog Post #5

Dear Lovely parents,
You will probably be wondering how I have been behaving myself and you don’t have to wait any longer because today's the day because I will tell you how I have spent my time at Forrest Hill School.
I have Challenged myself by going to the FHS TV every Monday at 8:00pm and to show up to each of my activities on time.
I have Connected with the past, future and future by preparing for the maths test that I signed up for and I have tried my hardest with it and I have prepared for future tests. I have also connected with the present by turning in my work before the due day.

I have Respected others and the environment by listening and not being distracted by other people and caring for the environment by caring for the nature around us and tidying up when the teacher tells us to.
I am in the Gala choir, Gala orchestra, Kids for kids, Kapa haka, Student Government, FHS TV, Production, Wet day, road patrol, Swimming classes and Volleyball lessons.

I would like to improve my learning skills so I can not be so nervous in tests and to calm down and not be stressed a lot.

blog post#4

My name is Roy Chen and I am reporting from NewsHub. I am here at Forrest Hill  School in Team Arataki trying to figure out what is exactly going on during math time. After the students finish their brain food, it seems that they are switching classes, what is this kaos happening down Arataki? I approach the student and ask. ”Where are you off to now?” He replies “I am off to Matua J’s class because I am in Group 4 and Group 4 and 5 have to go to Matua J’s class”. He seems to be carrying some items with him- his maths book, a Chromebook and a pen. “Why do you not use a pencil, Rex?” “Because Matua J doesn’t actually have good eyes”.
“What have you been in Matua J’s maths class?”
Rex replies “We have been doing a statistical inquiry”
Is that all the students have been doing I ask.
“No, maths questions also. We have been working on fraction questions.”
How has Rex been finding the fraction questions. He replies, “Some of them have been a bit hard”.
Rex knows when to go to Whaea Nat for problem solving when it is on the board and it tells him what Group 4 has to do. There is also a colourful timetable on the wall that tells all students what each group is doing each day. There is also a list of groups.
Rex tells me that the teachers change some students in groups if they find the work too easy or too hard.
I ask Rex, does he enjoy the Maths Rotation.
“Yes I do enjoy the maths rotation because it’s like maths with different teachers”.

And there you have it, the Arataki Maths Programme in the eyes of Rex.

Blog Draft #4

Hello my name is Andrew Andrews and I am reporting for 1 News. I am at Forrest Hill Primary School and I am here to learn what they do for their maths rotation here. The lead teacher in this team informed me that the rotation is organised by the students going to different Year 6 classrooms. They are in groups that are run by Whaea Sam, Matua J and Whaea Nat. When the students have got enough food inside of them they go inside their classrooms and get their math books and a pen or a pencil. They know which classroom that they should go to because there is a timetable in all of their classes where they will see their names. I interviewed a student named Andrej and he said ‘’ the rotation is awesome and fun and we get to do the statistical inquiry aka the independent activity and we are in groups of our choice.’’ As I am watching the students for the first time they look like a traffic jam in a big city and they are all lost and do not know what to do because it is their first time and are really busy with getting their books and trying to find which classrooms to go in first. One of the students told me that they think the rotation is kind of stressful because of all the pushing and shoving going around in different classrooms. The independent activity this term is a statistical inquiry and it is about them running a shop. They need to pick 6 categories from their shop of their choice and they also need to have 6 choices in their categories. It needs to be presented on a slideshow or a Google Doc because it is a presentation that is involving votes from different people in their syndicate. They all see Whaea Nat once in a rotation for problem solving. There are 5 groups from 1 - 5. How does your school run their maths in Year 6? My name is Andrew Andrews and this is 1 News.

Princess DK and the toad prince

As princess DK sipped on tea, the smell of  chocolate cookies danced in his nostrils as she munches on them. The conversation was was boring for DKas the queen and the governor about the "Royal life". Princess DK reached for the china teapot. As she placed her fingers around the circular lid . Clang! The tiny green prince monster popped out of the china teapot.

Blog Post #3

Sigh, when I thought this was going to be the best life a hand cleaner could
ever have... parents, children, kids, teachers started running, walking, charging
in like untrained dogs! My mouth dropped like, like my life was over... since
then everyone used me much more often! Squeezing me, using me, turning
me, it was like being punished for doing something wrong! I had to deal with
this madness everyday, well mostly everyday. I could not bear this anymore, I
just wanted to have a holiday. All day I have been dreaming for lockdown to
come again and have the best vacation ever!
